Hi Everyone,
Elly lives in London and Krissy lives in LA. Although we have a lot in common including a love of binge drinking, getting in trouble with HR, and travel one of the things we enjoy the most is steak tartare- Elly liked it first but Krissy is trying to catch-up- Since we now live very far away we send each other pictures and reviews of the good, the bad, and the ugly of our very favorite dish. Enjoy!

Otium- LA
Sorry no picture! The venue was too cool and I felt too basic to take a photograph. Feel free to google Otium Beef tartare and you will see dozens of images taken by those braver and more secure than me. Overall I really enjoyed this and the presentation. I loved the yogurt dolups on the dish and it certainly was beautiful. I will say I was not crazy about the bulgur. I though this left a gritty taste that detracted from the meat which was excellent. That being said, I'm not a bulgur fan in general so other's may really enjoy this texture.
Smart presentation from this French themed bistro. However, vibrant colours and the gooey yolk were a let down by the over use of the slightly bland tasting beet which dulled what should have been a punchy horseradish infused deer with peppery cress. Still at an affordable price point, I was impressed by the modernization of the somehwat out of trend 90s "it" resturant.
A very simple steak tartare from Bistro Bis in Washington D.C. Very good but very standard. There was nothing that really set it apart. It was quite rich and the dressing was a bit heavy so I would not recommend this if you are planning on an equally rich entre. Hated the green garnish but loved the crips on top.
Austrian Tartare
Had this beautiful Steak Tartare in Salzburg. Savory cone with mashed potato filling. Not bad for a post-flight 11 AM treat. Presentation was lovely and quality was high. Sadly I do not remember the name of the resturant as I was in a business class champange haze. Hoe obnoxious does that sound!
